“Life begins at 40” implies that your life has finally taken off at this age and it’s only going to get better. But does this apply to women too? Here are the various changes that occur in a woman’s body at 40:
1. Skin
They say that how we took care of our skin when we were young shows as we get older. We start to see profound changes in our skin when we turn 40. Saggy skin starts to become more apparent as it no longer has the same elasticity and firmness it once had during our younger days.
2. Sex Drive
Low interest in sex can be brought about by stress as we age. Some women get lucky and still have their peak sexual urges in the early 40s but plenty of us are not as fortunate.
3. Reproductive Health
A woman can get pregnant at 40, but the chances are slim. Studies say that less than 5 out of 100 women achieve successful pregnancies each month. Unfortunately, even if you get pregnant at this age, you will have to get ready for the complications that may arise.
4. Bones
As we age, our bone density decreases. Once we reach menopause, our bones will be more fragile and we become more at risk of osteoporosis.
5. Hair
Gray hair. Everywhere. It’s horrible. Hair falls and thinning hair can also start to be more prevalent as hair growth starts to slow.
6. Heart
Estrogen helps keep cholesterol levels at bay. Post-menopause, our estrogen levels decline and women get more susceptible to acquiring cardiovascular conditions.
